Degenerates

NBA Boston Celtics First Half Team Total Over 56.5 (-110; Odds via Caesars): 7:30 PM CT on ABC

The Celtics have a history of embarrassing losses in the playoffs, particularly as a big home favorite, and they usually bounce right back with a vengeance. I’ve always seen them as a very unserious team, usually content to coast on their talent, so I like taking advantage of situations like this where they’re highly motivated.

We saw it several times last year in the playoffs, and we saw it last round against the Heat, where after losing in Game 2 at home they dropped 63 in the first half in Miami. The playoffs have seen the Cavaliers play much better defense at home, but they aren’t that good against the three. Boston just shot 22.9% from deep last game, so positive regression there might overwhelm Cleveland’s defense early on for a Celtics scoring binge.

NBA Player Prop Picks (Odds via DraftKings)

Luka Doncic Under 30.5 Points (-110)

PJ Washington Over 20.5 Points+Rebounds (-110)

Daniel Gafford Under 11.5 Points (-110)

Derrick White Over 3.5 Made Three’s (+120)

Jason Tatum Over 2.5 Made Three’s (-120)

MLB 2-Team Moneyline Parlay (+155; Odds via Caesars)

St Louis Cardinals @ Milwaukee Brewers (-170): 6:15 PM CT on FOX

The Cardinals stink, there’s no other way to put it. I’m really disappointed in this team that has a ton of talent and is finding ways to waste it on a daily basis. They’ve been knocked around in both games of this series, and are 0-5 against Milwaukee this season. The surprising Brewers have a plus-25 run differential in those games, both scoring at will and using their strong pitching to hold down the St Louis bats. I think both happen again today with Kyle Gibson facing Freddy Peralta, and this moneyline price will end up looking like a great value as a parlay piece.

Texas Rangers (-165) @ Colorado Rockies: 7:10 PM CT on COLR

The Rangers definitely seemed to have a World Series hangover to start the season, but they’ve been rounding into form lately. Texas has won each of their past four series, going 9-4 straight up in that stretch, and should bounce back from last night’s loss to these pitiful Rockies. That was the first time all year that Colorado won consecutive games, and I don’t think they make it a streak. Not with Ryan Feltner on the mound against a Rangers team that’s one of the best against righthanded pitching. And with Andrew Heaney heating up this month, I think the Rangers jump out early and control this one throughout.
