Locks

WNBA (1 Unit) LA Sparks @ NY Liberty -4.5 First Quarter (-110; Odds via Caesars): 6:00 PM CT on Prime Video

The Sparks have not fared well on this road trip, going 0-4 with some lopsided losses, and now have to go the rest of the season without Cameron Brink. The first game without your rookie star coming against an angry Liberty team is a tough draw, and I think New York runs it up as usual in the first quarter. The Liberty will be in bounceback mode after a tough loss in Phoenix on Tuesday, and they’ve dominated the bad WNBA squads all season. The Liberty’s first-quarter dominance doesn’t need much more elaboration, and I think they flex their muscles against a poor and shorthanded opponent.

MLB (0.6 Unit) SF Giants/St Louis Cardinals Over 8.5 (-120; Odds via BetMGM): 6:15 PM CT on FOX

Any time Major League Baseball plays games at a novel location like they’ve been doing more of lately, it seems to turn into a slugfest. It helps when a lot of the stadiums have smaller dimensions, and that will be the case tonight at Rickwood Field. It also helps to have bad starting pitching, which we’ll see from both teams here.

Keaton Winn for the Giants has been hit extremely hard in his past 5 starts, compiling a 13.02 ERA and 1.98 WHIP, which not surprisingly has led to those starts going 4-1 over this total. When Winn gets outside of the pitcher’s park in San Francisco, his ERA balloons to 9.12 while also posting a .310 opponent on-base average.

A resurgent Cardinals offense should jump on him early and often, but they’ll have their own problems with Andre Pallante who they should’ve kept as a reliever. With neither bullpen any good either, especially the Giants unit which has earned the 3rd-most runs in the league, I see plenty of offense throughout the game tonight.

MLB (0.5 Unit) Milwaukee Brewers ML @ San Diego Padres (-110; Odds via Fanduel): 8:40 PM CT on SDPA

This is just a really bad situational spot for the Padres, and I was surprised to see essentially a pick-em price for this game. San Diego just played yesterday in Philadelphia, and teams traveling cross-country with no days off are the definition of a Malinsky Special.

The Brewers have been in SoCal waiting for them, so they definitely have the advantage there. But I also just see them as the better team that isn’t getting enough appreciation for their strong start. The pitchers in this game don’t create a significant edge for either team, so I’m betting the situation and the price against a Padres team that continues to disappoint.
