Locks

MLB (0.75 Unit) Philadelphia Phillies/Minnesota Twins Over 8 (-110; Odds via Caesars): 6:40 PM CT on Bally Sports North

It’s possible that Phillies starter Ranger Suarez used the All-Star break to fix whatever issues have been plaguing him, but I’m not a believer until he proves it. This has been a bad stretch for a pitcher once considered a Cy Young favorite, as he’s allowed 4 or more runs in his past 4 starts. I think the Twins keep the poor performances from Suarez coming today, as they’re still one of the best offenses against lefties.

I’m afraid they’ll need every run they can get though against this high-powered Phillies offense, even with how good Bailey Ober has been at times this season. After the Twins had two games fly over the total this weekend with better pitchers going, I’m sold that we’ll see another today with an elite offense in town.

MLB (0.75 Unit) Oakland Athletics Team Total Over 3.5 (-110; Odds via Caesars): 8:40 PM CT on NBCS-CA

It’s been great riding this unexpected surge of offense from the lowly A’s lately, and I expect it to continue tonight. The Astros have done a great job of holding Oakland down this season, leading the season series 6-1 and not once allowing the A’s over this team total. But they haven’t met in almost two months, and this Oakland offense is just different right now. Houston will also be sending out Spencer Arrighetti tonight, who is their lone starter Oakland has beaten this year. Arrighetti and his 6.70 ERA, 1.88 WHIP, and .300 opponent on-base average in road games should allow the A’s to keep their bats hot and get over this very low total.
