MLB (0.75 Unit) Detroit Tigers Team Total Over 4 (+100; Odds via Caesars): 5:40 PM CT on Bally Sports Detroit
Yesterday I skipped betting the Tigers team total and today I’m kicking myself, so I won’t make that mistake again. This offense is red hot, both overall going 11-2-2 against this team total the past 15 games, and against Cleveland this year. Detroit has gone over this number in their past 4 against the Guardians, and are 5-2-1 over it in the season series. With Xzavion Curry starting today for a Cleveland team running short on starters, the Tigers have a great opportunity to put plenty more runs on the board and cash their team over once again.
MLB (0.5 Unit) Paul Skenes Over 7.5 Strikeouts (-110; Odds via DraftKings): 5:40 PM CT on SportsNet PT
When it’s Paul Skenes day, you just have to automatically look at the over on his strikeout prop. Usually it’s an inflated or heavily juiced number, but this one today is very attractive. Fresh off starting the All-Star Game, Skenes comes into today having cleared this total in 7 of his past 8 starts. And he’s had at least 7 K’s in 10 of his 11 starts this season, so the ask here is to basically just clear his floor. While the Cardinals are relatively average in their strikeout percentage against righthanded pitching, this is no regular righty and I think Skenes clears this total again.
MLB (0.5 Unit) Logan Gilbert Over 18.5 Outs Recorded (+135; Odds via DraftKings): 8:40 PM CT on ROOT Sports NW
This is a very attainable number for Logan Gilbert today, and the juice attached to it is almost preposterous. Gilbert has gone over this outs prop in 6 of his past 8 starts, and that includes his last outing: going 7 shutout innings against this Angels team. He allowed just 2 hits to this light-hitting LA squad in that game but couldn’t come away with the win, so I’d expect him to stay in as long as it takes to right that wrong today. With a juicy return on that happening, I’m on the over here with a sneaky-good pitcher.
MLB (0.75 Unit) Oakland Athletics Team Total Over 4 (+100; Odds via Caesars): 8:40 PM CT on SCHN
Another day, another A’s game where they cleared their team total yesterday. That number is up a bit today, but I’m not particularly concerned given how good this offense has been for a couple of weeks now. Even a team as hot as Houston couldn’t hold them down, and I don’t think their rookie starter Jake Bloss, who’s making his first road appearance, will have much success today either. Much like the Tigers, this is a run that you have to capitalize on from a team with a reputation for weak offense, so I’m jumping in again tonight.
MLB (0.25 Unit) Jordan Hicks Under 14.5 Outs Recorded (+135; Odds via DraftKings): 9:10 PM CT on SportsNet LA
The Giants do not let Jordan Hicks pitch very deep into games, at least not since back in April when he was having much more success. But the past couple months have seen his innings drop considerably, averaging just 13.5 outs recorded the last 7 starts. Plus, he’s been roughed up recently, posting a 7.85 ERA and 1.91 WHIP in his past 4 starts. The Dodgers can make life difficult on anyone, and Hicks has had issues with them too, owning a .314 average and .886 OPS against the LA bats for his career. Going under this total would amount to a very short outing, but it’s the right pitcher and the right opponent so I’ll take a shot at this juicy return.
