TKO Sports Bar 2022 murder trial postponed with Fall date more likely, attorneys say

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) – A trial date is being finalized for the man accused of shooting and killing three people outside a Laredo sports bar back in 2022.

This week, attorneys representing the state and the defendant, Joe Manuel Martinez, agreed to more time to finalize the exchange of evidence.

The trial was originally slated to begin with jury selection next Monday, May 6.

Instead, the attorney representing Martinez, Philip Del Rio, says he expects the new trial date will be issued within the end of the week.

Based on the amount of evidence needed to go over, Del Rio expects the trial to begin in the Fall.

Martinez is facing three counts of murder and has previously pled not guilty.
