TNF open thread: Patriots-Jets gambling lines and picks for tonight’s game

We’re getting back-to-back AFC East matchups on Thursday Night Football as Week 3 of the 2024 NFL season begins with the New England Patriots visiting the New York Jets.

Heading into the campaign, this game looked like it could be a blowout on paper. However, the Patriots surprised people with a win over the Bengals in the season opener and by taking the Seahawks to overtime last week. Meanwhile, the Jets got demolished by the 49ers in Week 1 and squeaked out a seven-point win against the Titans last Sunday.

So, we could be in for a sneaky good contest.

This is your place to discuss the game with other Las Vegas Raiders fans and any gambling picks you have as the lines below are provided by FanDuel Sportsbook.

Patriots vs. Jets

  • Spread: NYJ -6.5
  • O/U: 38.5
  • NYJ ML: -260
  • NE ML: +215

Holder’s picks: NJY -6.5, Under 38.5, NYJ ML

While everything above is true, New England has a bad offensive line and has already ruled out two starters up front while two more are banged up. That’s a disastrous combination against New York’s defensive line which is also part of the reason why I’m taking the under. I think this is a “get right” game for Aaron Rodgers and the Jets as a whole.

For the injury report, the Patriots have ruled linebacker Ja’Whaun Bently (shoulder), offensive tackle Vederian Lowe (knee), guard Sidy Sow (ankle) and linebacker Oshane Ximines (no injury specified) out. Center David Andrews (hip), offensive tackle Mike Onwenu (wrist), safety Jabrill Peppers (shoulder) and defensive end Deatrich Wise (shoulder) are questionable. Meanwhile, outside linebacker Jermaine Johnson II (Achilles) is out and linebacker C.J. Mosley (toe) is questionable for the Jets.
