Tommy Hilfiger Spring 2025 Ready to Wear: Sea Worthy

The Staten Island ferry has never been so trendy.

On Sunday evening, Tommy Hilfiger took over the decommissioned ship that is now owned by Colin Jost, Pete Davidson and their partners and will soon be converted to an event space, for a celebrity-packed showcase for his spring ’25 collection.

The boat’s third floor was transformed into a runway and was packed with Hilfiger friends and collaborators, with VIPs including Jost, Stray Kids’ Felix and Lee, Jisoo, Madelyn Cline, Damson Idris, Gabby Thomas, Suni Lee, and more decked out in his polished, collegiate prep fall collection. And Brooke Shields, both beaming and teary-eyed, watched as her model daughter Grier Hammond Henchy, clad in a simple black tank and full skirt, walked her first runway show to the bumping DJ soundtrack by Questlove.

The setting was apropos for Hilfiger’s signature coed Americana sportswear with its defining preppy and collegiate codes, which were given a nautical, summery twist for today.

In women’s, a roomy striped button-up over new baggy jeans; cropped TH monogram varsity sweaters and shrunken cardigans with roomy tailored trousers or Bermuda shorts; Modish mini sailor dresses and tunics, and tight cargo capri pants (in an array of checks and solids) exuded a fresh, youthful ease. Ditto to coed striped cotton windbreakers; sail-cloth nylon archival regatta jackets; crinkled cotton utility pants, and easy trenchcoats — each accessorized with neck-tie bandanas, hand-woven boat shoes and slippers, rope belts and monogrammed baseball caps to anchor his maritime inspiration.

The nautical, preppy influence was also unmistakable in the menswear — but the pieces offered an update on what could otherwise feel commonplace. Sweaters and shirts with Breton and Ithaca stripes felt fresh, particularly a striped button-down shirt with contrasting panels of red, white and blue. Heritage regatta jackets and utility pants were flowy and light, as were some of the more-sartorial pieces, on trend with this season of easy fits. Hilfiger eschewed a move toward short-shorts by offering his take on the category: oversize, double pleated and below the knee. Varsity jackets in linen and leather; chinos with turned-up cuffs; hand-knit Ivy League sweaters; polos reminiscent of the 1950s, and deconstructed trenchcoats completed the look.

Hilfiger closed his runway spectacular with a surprise performance from Staten Island’s own Wu-Tang Clan members Method Man, Ghostface Killah and Raekwon, performing hits “C.R.E.A.M.” and “Ice Cream” as the crowd went wild.
