Topeka-based construction company to create hundreds of new jobs
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – A Topeka-based construction company is expected to create hundreds of new jobs.
The Topeka and Shawnee County Joint Economic Development Organization (JEDO) approved a $57 million investment to help Haas Metal Engineering (HME) build a new manufacturing facility. JEDO voted on the approval Wednesday, Dec. 11.
“It’s great to see HME’s quality work lead to growth,” said Shawnee County Commission Chair Kevin Cook. “We are proud to see the company excel in its industry, while contributing to Shawnee County’s economic vitality and creating new opportunities for our community.”
The plant is expected to create over 300 jobs and generate $1.2 billion over the next decade. This represents a 171% return on investment for Topeka and Shawnee County.
“HME’s growth is not just a win for the company but for all of the Topeka area,” said Molly Howey president of GO Topeka. “This project reflects the hard work and commitment of a business that is deeply rooted in our community. The jobs being created will no doubt contribute to local economic prosperity for years to come.”
