Topeka’s Backyard Music Fest offers blend of music and entertainment
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – Topeka’s Backyard Music Fest offers a blend of music and entertainment.
On Friday, June 7, musicians gathered to perform for the community as part of Topeka’s Backyard Music Fest.
Jirani Smith is camped out for a weekend of fun at the festival.
“These types of events are really good for the community,” Smith said. “It’s good to see people gather together and collaborate.”
The festival is a blend of music, food, arts and entertainment.
Four stages host different genres of music, including rock and roll, Latin, hip-hop and electronic dance music.
“A lot of music festivals don’t try to incorporate different types of music,” said Ronald Ruiz, We wanted to have every type of music out here so everybody can come out here and feel welcome for our great fun festival for the whole weekend.”
Additionally, about 50 vendors are in attendance from food trucks to artists.
Organizers say the variety makes this festival unique.
“I’m counting on people to attend the festival,” said Murad Alrjoub. “I’m not counting like on the music.”
The festival continues until 3 a.m. this evening and continues on Saturday, June 8 from noon to 3 a.m.
“It looks beautiful out here and we’re just ready for a great weekend of music here in Topeka, Kansas,” said Alrjoub.
Tickets start at $25.
