Governor Kathy Hochul announced the opening of the Energy Solutions Manufacturing Center of Excellence in the Town of Kirkwood by The Raymond Corporation and Toyota Material Handling. The new facility, repurposed from an existing building, will focus on advanced energy solutions, including the assembly of lithium-ion battery packs for electric lift trucks. This expansion aims to meet the growing demand for electric products and create up to 45 new jobs.
Empire State Development is providing $1 million through the Excelsior Jobs Tax Credit program to support the $15.6 million project. This investment aligns with New York’s broader strategy to boost the advanced energy storage industry in the Southern Tier. Governor Hochul emphasized the state’s commitment to leading the next-generation battery innovation industry.
The Raymond Corporation President, Michael Field, highlighted the company’s commitment to job creation and community growth, while Toyota Material Handling Vice President, Josh Linnemann, underscored the facility’s role in supporting green energy solutions. The new center is expected to be fully operational by 2025.
