Tracy Marcus empowers elegance through meticulously crafted white lace cover-ups, providing a sophisticated and comfortable style. We caught up with the designer to learn more.
Tell us about your journey and inspiration that led you to become a fashion designer.
Over ten years ago, while on a business trip in Miami, I purchased a white lace cover-up in my hotel spa. I loved it and wore it for years. I got so many compliments from people of all ages. I could never find anything else as simple and elegant and white — a collection of white that I could always go back to. I decided to start the journey of designing a collection myself.
You have a resort, ready-to-wear collection. Tell us more about your Collection and what inspires you.
I created a collection of all-white luxury lace cover-ups that can be worn from day to evening. White is classic, elegant, and timeless, so that was my initial inspiration. I wanted each piece to have a special detail, making the pieces feminine and luxurious. The laces I chose are soft and comfortable, allowing for movement, and in the movement and comfort of the pieces, the details of each piece are noticed: a ruffle, a long tie, a deep V-neck, and a flutter sleeve. Subtle details in white soft laces that will take you from day to evening is the Tracy Marcus collection that has launched.
This is your launch in the Hamptons for Hamptons Fashion Week. How does it feel to showcase your collection on the runway and be highlighted for your achievement in designing resort wear?
I have been coming to the Hamptons for many years because my brother lives there. I have always loved every second of being up there. Driving from town out to the beach, the farms, the flowers, the peace… pure bliss. So showcasing my initial collection for Hamptons Fashion Week holds a very special place in my heart. I am excited to share my pieces in a place that brings together the feel and aesthetic of my collection perfectly.
What’s next for you and your brand?
I have so many ideas for new styles. I love that I have created a brand that women can come to for white, luxury cover-up styles and know that they will find the style and design that works for them again and again. When you find something you love, that fits, that feels comfortable, you want to keep going back.
The beauty of the brand is that the pieces I create are exclusive and limited in the laces that I use. When a particular style sells out, it is gone. So, the pieces are special in their exclusivity. You are not going to see other women wearing your special piece.
I will continue selling my collection online and would love to have my pieces in boutique resorts/spas internationally.
What will be your inspiration for Hampton Fashion Week 2024?
My inspiration is simplicity, ease, and elegance… all the things that speak “Hamptons.”
