Trains added to help ease traffic flow following Norwalk I-95 closure
NEW HAVEN, CT (WFSB) – Trains were suggested as a means of transportation for those impacted by the closure of Interstate 95 in Norwalk.
Severe damage was reported to an overpass in Norwalk after a tanker fire Thursday near exit 14. The highway was expected to be closed at least until Monday.
Travelers were warned that they would encounter delays and detours through weekend.
Anyone who must travel was asked by state officials to consider riding Metro-North trains.
State officials said that additional trains were to be added to accommodate more commuters. See the schedule here.
The trains were running on schedule as of Friday morning.
CT Transit buses were also available.
Local employers were urged to consider allowing employees to work from home.
