TRAVEL ADVISORY: Ramp closure beginning on Monday

UTICA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — The New York State Department of Transportation has announced a ramp closure in the city of Utica.

Beginning on Monday, June 17, the ramp between State Street in the city and State Route 5S on Oriskany Street in the city will be closed to traffic. The DOT has said that this closure will be to facilitate paving operations.

The ramp will be closed to traffic between the hours of 6 am and 6 pm beginning on Monday, June 17. According to the DOT, the work is scheduled to last approximately two weeks, weather permitting.

Motorists traveling eastbound will be directed to follow a signed detour using State Street northbound to Interstate 790 to North Genesee Street south to State Route 5S.

Motorists should expect delays and plan accordingly.

Motorists are also urged to slow down in work zones, as fines are doubled for speeding in work zones. Two or more convictions may result in the suspension of the offender’s license.
