Travel agent shares ways to be stress-free on your holiday trip

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) -The countdown to Christmas is on, and if you’re heading out of town soon, you’re not alone.

AAA predicts around 119 million Americans will be heading out of town, traveling 50 miles or more during the last dozen days of the year.

All the holiday hustle and bustle can add extra stress for travelers.

We spoke with BCS travel agent Brittany Hooks with Marvelous Mouse Travels about ways we can ensure a smoother trip.

“Anything that’s of great importance, keep in your carry-on or keep on you,” Hooks said. “Lost luggage does happen.”

Hooks said items like medication, phone chargers and electronics should be somewhere you have access to at all times while traveling.

She suggests putting an AirTag in your luggage, so you can keep track of it in the case it goes missing.

“If you can try to pack in a carry on, do that so that you don’t even have to check baggage,” Hooks added.

Hooks also highly recommends buying travel insurance just in case anything goes wrong.

“It can cover anything that happens, trip delays, medical emergencies, as well as I keep going back to baggage,” Hooks said.

When it comes to busy travel days, Hooks said when booking future holiday trips, it’s best to fly or drive several days before the holiday, and avoid weekend travel if you can.

Her last tidbit of advice is to have a little patience.

She said everyone is just trying to get to their destination so they can enjoy the holidays!
