Travel Restrictions In Place For Some Vehicles On Interstate 80

While Interstate 80 remained generally open at last report, WYDOT says travel conditions are less than ideal.

Strong Winds, Blowing Snow Causing Hazardous Travel Conditions

Slick conditions are reported for almost the entire length of I-80 in Wyoming. But a combination of strong winds and blowing snow or wet conditions has combined to create an ”extreme blow over risk” between Rawlins and Laramie. That stretch of highway has been closed to light, high profile vehicles until further notice.

That’s according to the WYDOT road and travel conditions website.

Slick conditions and blowing snow are reported on I-80 between Buford and Laramie, but at last report no restrictions had been imposed for that stretch of highway. Slick conditions and snowfall are reported from Cheyenne to the Nebraska state line.

At last report, dry conditions were reported on Interstate 25 north of Chugwater. The rest of I-25 in Wyoming was reporting dry conditions with no restrictions.

Forecasters are calling for light snowfall to gradually taper off this afternoon for western and central Wyoming. But Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories are in effect for the Sierra Madre and Snowy range mountains in southeast Wyoming, with up to two feet of snow possible in some areas.
