It’s well known that Thanksgiving is one of the busiest travel days of the year, especially for airports as travelers scurry to get home for the holiday.

But fewer know that some of the best airline and hotel deals of the year are available just a few days after Black Friday.

Travel Tuesday will take place on Dec. 3 this year, giving consumers access to major deals, discounts and savings on flights, resorts and hotels.

Here’s everything Arizona travelers looking to plan a getaway or a trip need to know to get the most bang for their buck this year on Travel Tuesday.

What is Travel Tuesday?

Travel Tuesday is a national shopping event where travelers can find more deals on airfare and hotels than other days, including Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

The online booking company Hopper is credited with starting the trend in 2017, but it has since exploded in popularity.

The site indicates that on Travel Tuesday last year there were 83% more flight deals than Cyber Monday and 91% more than Black Friday.

The holidays, specifically Thanksgiving, are among the year’s busiest travel days. However, CheapOair explained that online travel agencies offer Travel Tuesday deals to attract travelers since demand falls after Thanksgiving as travel peaks.

Several hotel companies like Marriot and Hilton have announced sales that will continue through Travel Tuesday.

  • Benchmark Resorts & Hotels: The hotel company with locations in Hawaii, Florida and Utah is offering deals up to 50% off through Dec. 4.
  • Best Western: You can find exclusive discounts and ongoing offers for select Best Western hotel stays just in time for the holidays. Earn double points at more than 4,000 hotels, get special AARP rates and save with AAA discounts. 
  • Blue Diamond Resorts: This company, which has many popular hotels in its portfolio, is offering up to 30% off until Dec. 1.
  • Booking.com: Explore Late Escape deals to save 15% or more when you book and stay by Jan. 7, 2025. Save 10% or more when you sign up for a free Booking.com membership. 
  • Hilton Hotels: Hilton’s “Season to Stay” sale gives customers who book through Jan. 5, 2025, up to 20% off stays at hotels in the U.S. and Canada through April 21, 2025.
