Travelers excited landing in Hampton Roads after smooth travel experiences

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — People across Hampton Roads and across the country are gearing up for holiday travel, as AAA is reporting that 80 million people are all going somewhere.

Norfolk International Airport is business as usual as travelers head to their Thanksgiving holiday destination, and it has reported no issues during the holiday season.

“Yeah, very smooth,” said traveler Connor Micklos. “I mean, I’ve always come here for flights, so super easy to get in and out.”

Traveler Evan Monger said even though Norfolk’s airport is smaller than ones he typically uses, he saved money by doing so.

“It was really interesting,” Monger said. “I mean, I really liked it. This was one of the smaller airports that I’ve been to. It’s been more quick and efficient, I think. And [compared to] where I normally live, it’s saved me like a hundred bucks or so. So it’s a little bit cheaper.”

Monger and Micklos are back in Hampton Roads in time for a Thanksgiving feast, with the Micklos family reunited for a holiday break after a few months apart.

“It was really nice getting to see [mom] since I haven’t seen her in a while,” Micklos said. “So it’s really nice to get to see the rest of the family soon too.”

Said Cindy Micklos: “… It was good to finally see him. We don’t get to see him very often since Illinois is a long drive. When we go see him, it’s 14 hours to get there, so it was really nice to finally have him home for Thanksgiving, even though it’s only for four days.”

Norfolk International Airport advises travelers to plan ahead and double-check flight information before taking off, something Monger said is a good idea.

“I say plan beforehand, don’t do it last minute and have a straight idea of what you want to do, and also, save up some money,” Monger said.

For travel updates, be sure to check in with the Norfolk International Airport’s website, as well as your flight carrier.
