Treat yourself to incredible entertainment with a visit to Taproot Theater
Located in the heart of Greenwood, Taproot Theater has been entertaining Seattle for nearly 50 years.
This is local theater at its finest, with top-tier talent delivering impressive performances on an intimate stage.
From comedies to drama, Taproot Theater offers a variety of productions. The theater produces six shows per season on their Jewell Mainstage, with additional shows at nearby Isaac Studio.
Communications Manager Daytona Danielsen says, “When you come to Taproot Theater, you are experiencing professional theater in a neighborhood setting.”
And what unites all of these productions? “At the core of Taproot is that Taproot is a theater of hope,” Danielsen says.
This focus on hope doesn’t mean that every story is feel-good or has a happy ending. It means that, at Taproot, you’ll leave your experience with a sense of hope, regardless of the type of production you saw. Taproot exemplifies being a theater of hope with an early-stage memory loss improv class and a touring company that performs bully prevention stories to schools around Washington state.
Taproot provides patrons with an immersive experience. Danielsen says, “From the moment that you step into the lobby and check out the concessions and lobby art, to the time you go into the theater to see the production, you can feel like you’re immersed in a world.”
The concessions program offers locally produced food and beverage options, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Each production has customized food and beverages to match the mood. For example, in a play featuring Albert Einstein, the theater had a local bakery produce a chocolate bar called “The MC-Square.”
Additionally, each production has a unique display of local art in the lobby, providing exposure for local artists and added enjoyment for patrons.
Danielson hopes that when guests leave an experience at Taproot, “They’re feeling moved, inspired; they’re feeling like they can’t wait to dive deeper into what they just saw, whether that’s through a post-show conversation with their friends or a post-show talk-back program.”
