Trio of Sooner softball players to speak at OKC Metro High School Sports Awards

Fresh off their Women’s College World Series win, the trio of Oklahoma Sooner softball players Jayda Coleman, Kierston Deal, and Kinzie Hansen will be the featured speakers at the OKC Metro High School Sports Awards, presented by LC Management Group.

The show is being held June 14 at the Rose State Performing Arts Center. Tickets can be purchased through this link.

Jayda Coleman is a big reason why the Sooners are celebrating their fourth national championship in a row. The senior outfielder hit a walk-off, solo home run to lift the Sooners over Florida to advance to the best-of-three finals. The Sooners then went on to beat Texas, 2-0, to claim the title.

Winning a fourth world series is just another accomplishment on Coleman’s long resume of accolades. She’s a four-time All-American, the 2023 Big12 Athlete of the Year, and a top 10 finalist for the 2024 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year.

Hansen also had some big moments last week in at the WCWS. The graduate senior had two home runs in the series and drove in six runs during the tournament to finish out her career with her fourth national championship. Hansen is a member of the USA Softball Women’s National Team and the 2023 Johnny Bench Award winner for Best College Softball Catcher and 4X All American. She currently holds the single-game program record for hits with five and entered 2023 ranked 10th in program history with 49 career home runs.

Sophomore Kierston Deal is one of the aces in the circle for the Sooners. Last week in the WCWS, she threw 9.1 innings across four games. She went 13-1 this season and pitched big innings during this year’s Women’s College World Series.

The OKC Metro High School Sports Awards, one of 20 regional shows across the United States, is a nine-month student-athlete recognition program that will culminate at a red-carpet show this spring. The show will recognize athletes, coaches, and teams from the Oklahoma City Metro area.
