Twin Valley students gain real world experiences

This past school year, Twin Valley High School students gained real-world experiences through the school’s internship program.

Twin Valley High School Internship Coordinators Angela Morgan, Amy Williams and Sara Cipolla welcome all Twin Valley juniors and seniors to participate in an internship in all career areas.

When students share their career aspirations, the coordinators network with professionals to coordinate a placement that aligns with their desires for career exploration and learning.

“At Twin Valley High School, it is a typical day for students to gain opportunities in the real world,” Twin Valley High School Internship Coordinator Angela Morgan said in a release.

“For example, a student interested in becoming a physical therapist may job shadow or intern in this career field and participate in hands-on learning experiences, getting exposure to patient assessments, proper practices, and client relationships.”

Students interested in law can intern with local courts where they learn about the duties and responsibilities of a Magisterial District Judge and observe daily proceedings with both civil and criminal cases. Observing in this environment provides opportunities to interview others in various roles, such as police officers, local and county detectives, district attorneys, public defenders, bail agents, etc.

Other career areas include education, dental, strength and conditioning, equine management, titanium production, business, accounting, college athletic recruiting, interior design, event planning,  pharmacy, environmental and plant management, architecture and engineering, veterinary medicine, automotive, and childcare.

“We believe students learn by doing. Benefits for students include offers for summer and part-time employment, networking with professionals who can guide them in career and college-planning, scholarships, and stipends, and more,” Morgan said.
