Two local non-profits offer foster kids a shopping spree for the upcoming school year

Youth in foster were treated to a shopping spree on August 4.

Two local non-profits Kathy’s Angels Foundation and St. Jude’s Ranch for Children helped make this happen for the kids.

Over 30 kids received $400.00 each to buy school clothes at Kohls inside the Galleria Mall in Henderson.

A volunteer from Kathy’s Angels assisted the children and helped them to select clothing items.

According to the volunteer, the children were taught shopping skills showing them how to read labels and find the proper sizes.

Kathy’s Angels Foundation and St. Jude’s Ranch for Children state this helps boost confidence and self-esteem for the kids living in foster care.

Christina Vela CEO, of St. Jude’s Ranch for Children, says, “All of these people come together and love on our kids and it’s so special.”

Both non-profits say the annual event also makes the kids feel valued and supported and the event is more than just giving away clothes.

Donations to support Kathy’s Angels Foundation can be made at www.kathysangelsfoundation.org.
