U-M to Travel to Rutgers for Weekend Matchup – University of Michigan Athletics

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The No. 25-ranked University of Michigan men’s soccer team (5-0-3, 1-0-2 Big Ten) will complete its two-game road swing with a trip to Piscataway, N.J., for a matchup with Rutgers (3-5-1, 0-2-0 Big Ten) on Saturday (Sept. 28) at 4 p.m. The conference match will be broadcast live on Big Ten Network.

Notes

• Michigan drew with UCLA 3-3 last Saturday (Sept. 21) to extend its undefeated start to eight matches, its best open to a season since 2007. Jason Bucknor scored twice while Bryce Blevins provided another score in the six-goal draw.

• Despite the draw, U-M remained the United Soccer Coaches Poll, checking in at No. 25 in the nation in the latest rankings, released Tuesday (Sept. 24).

• The Wolverines continue to produce on offense, scoring first in all eight matches and tallying 14 goals which is tied for fourth in the Big Ten.

Bryce Blevins and Soto are tied for the team lead in points with 11. Soto assisted on two of three goals last time out while Blevins scored once and dished out an assist on the equalizer against UCLA. Soto has logged one point in seven consecutive matches and leads the conference in assists per game at 0.88.

• The Michigan defense has held its opponents below 30 percent shots on target and have only allowed one goal in the second half through eight matches. Will Baker, Matthew Fisher and Nolan Miller have started seven of eight matches together as the primary defenders.

Isaiah Goldson checks in at third among Big Ten keepers with six or more appearances with a .739 save percentage. He is one of 10 goalkeepers in the conference with 10 saves or more.

• Michigan will take on Rutgers for the 14th time in program history, leading the series at 8-3-2. The Wolverines triumphed in the most-recent meeting on Sept. 22, 2023 by a score of 3-2.

• After its meeting with the Scarlet Knights, Michigan will return to U-M Soccer Stadium for a matchup with rival Ohio State on Oct. 4 at 7 p.m.
