U.S. to add 6.7M jobs in next decade; these titles expected to see most job growth

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Those looking for a new career may want to consider which jobs are expected to be in the highest demand in the coming years.

The U.S. economy is expected to add nearly 6.8 million jobs over the next decade, from 2023 to 2033, according to projections from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Much of the job growth will be spurred by the healthcare industry, as the country’s rapidly aging population requires higher levels of medical care.

From 2010 to 2020, the numbers of Americans ages 65 and up increased a staggering 38.6%, from roughly 40.3 million in 2010 to 55.8 million in 2020, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

With more and more senior citizens to care for, home health and personal care aides are expected to see the highest level of job growth, with an additional 820,500 jobs expected to become available over the next decade, projections show.

Other jobs in the healthcare industry expected to see sizable growth include registered nurses, medical and health services managers and nurse practitioners, which are all expected to see more than 100,000 new jobs created.
