Team USA Leads After Day 1

Team USA sits in first after Day 1 of the U20 World Championships with a 10-point lead over Russia. The USA had an incredible start to the tournament by putting all five wrestlers who competed on Friday into the semifinals. Of the five semifinalists, only Luke Lilledahl (57 kg) and Zack Ryder (79 kg) while Bo Bassett (65 kg), PJ Duke (70 kg), and Justin Rademacher (97 kg) will all wrestle for bronze.

Russia also has two finalists but trails Team USA with only 2 in the bronze medal match. Justin Rademacher notably defeated his Russian opponent in the opening round keeping Russia from scoring any points at 97 kg.

What’s Next For The Team Race?

Every weight that began their tournament today will finish their tournament with medal matches tomorrow (Saturday at 12:00 pm ET). Then, the final five weights of the men’s freestyle division will begin their tournament early Saturday morning at 4:00 am (ET).
