2024 UCI Track World Championships: Men’s cyclists to watch
On the men’s side, triple Paris 2024 Olympic champion Harrie Lavreysen looks to add to his medal haul.
The Dutchman is defending world champion in both the individual and team sprints, and will look to repeat in both events as well as regain his world keirin title from 2022.
Lavreysen’s team sprint compatriot Jeffrey Hoogland, the reigning world champion in the non-Olympic 1km time trial event, is also a likely medal threat.
The endurance events appear a little more open, however, with the Olympic champions in the Madison and omnium not competing.
It could open up an opportunity for the likes of Britain’s Ethan Hayter in the omnium, while Italy’s Elia Viviani and Simone Consonni, the Paris silver medallists, enter as Madison favourites.
Notably, Filippo Ganna is not entered in the team pursuit and is only defending his individual pursuit title in Ballerup.
