ULM hosts Annual Business Outlook Summit
MONROE, La. (KNOE) – The University of Louisiana at Monroe hosted its Annual Business Outlook Summit of 2024 at the Bayou Point Event Center on Friday, Nov. 8.
Community leaders, business experts, and community members gathered to discuss strategies for economic growth in Northeast Louisiana and the economy of the United States.
ULM officials say the purpose of the event was to give people the opportunity to create connections with local leaders and business professionals to encourage growth through educating the community with the skills and tools to discover new opportunities for economic development.
“We have a responsibility to contribute back to the community using our expertise, and our connections so we developed this event so that we could provide information to our community that could help all the businesses and organizations in the region be more successful than before,” says Michelle McEacharn, the Dean of the College of Business and Social Sciences at ULM.
The keynote speaker and Chief Investment Economist Strategist for Oppenheimer Asset Management, John Stoltzfus highlighted the benefits of technology to the economy of the United States.
He says, “The dissemination of information and analysis of data is a very big thing, and we think it’s good for all eleven sectors, whether it’s consumer discretionary, utilities, consumer staples, or medicine. We think there’s a lot of promise for the US economy. “
ULM officials say they aim to remain a trusted source of information about economic development for Northeast Louisiana.
