A few weeks ago, it was revealed that Samsung could launch the Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra to compete with the Apple Watch Ultra series. However, a questionable report claimed yesterday that the South Korean firm would call its most premium smartwatch the Galaxy Watch X.
Now, it appears that the report was indeed wrong, and Samsung will likely use the Ultra branding for its upcoming premium smartwatch.
Galaxy Watch Ultra could be Samsung’s most premium smartwatch ever
According to the TDRA certification database (via MySmartPrice), Samsung’s upcoming premium smartwatch will be called the Galaxy Watch Ultra, with no 7 numerical visible in its marketing name. If this is indeed what Samsung is going with, it appears that the company is closely following Apple’s naming scheme for premium smartwatches.
As you can see in the image above, the TDRA certification document mentions that Galaxy Watch Ultra’s model number is SM-L705F. This aligns with several previous reports, and it is increasingly visible that Samsung could be using the Ultra branding for the upcoming wearable. In the image below, you can see the device’s FCC certification. It reveals model numbers SM-L705F (global variant) and SM-L705U (USA variant). It features Wi-Fi b/g/n, which is disappointing as it doesn’t support a more modern Wi-Fi 5 standard.
According to the FCC certification database, the Galaxy Watch Ultra was tested with a wireless charger with model number EP-OL300. It was attached to a 10W (5V and 2A) power source. This is lower than the wattage found for the Galaxy Watch 7’s 15W charger. So, it is possible that both smartwatches only support 10W wireless charging, but the company used a 15W power brick with the vanilla Galaxy Watch 7.

Galaxy Watch Ultra: What to expect?
A few days ago, the renders of the Galaxy Watch Ultra were leaked. And those images align with our exclusive report that said Samsung is working on a smartwatch with a squarer design. The images showcase that the smartwatch has a circular screen, a rotating bezel, and a rounded square case.
It also appears to feature a much bigger loudspeaker. This smartwatch is expected to feature Samsung’s first 3nm chipset, and it is rumored to be called the Exynos W1000. It is expected to bring substantial improvements in battery life and performance. The smartwatch will also feature 32GB internal storage.
