Underdog Fantasy MLB Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – August 11

Teoscar Hernandez – Higher than 1.5 Total Bases

On Friday against the Pirates, Teoscar Hernandez went 1-for-3 with a single, a walk and an RBI. Overall, that’s not a bad day – that is unless you’re Teoscar Hernandez in August. That game stands currently as the only August game in which Hernandez hasn’t had an extra-base hit in. He’s hitting .438 this month with five doubles and four homers, which comes out to a .969 slugging.

That’s not the only reason to like Hernandez either. He’s 3-for-6 lifetime against Sunday starter Bailey Falter. Two of those hits are home runs. Finding two bases on Sunday shouldn’t be an issue.

Jorge Soler – Higher than 0.5 Home Runs

I’m not usually taking a big swing on a home run play, but we’re getting a Pick’Em Scorcher bonus at 1.75x. Plus, I really like how hot Soler has been since heading to Colorado to face the Rockies. In the series, he’s 5-for-9 with 5 RBIs. In addition to that, he has a homer in each game. He’s 5-for-11 against Sunday’s starter Kyle Freeland and has taken him deep before.

Hayden Birdsong – Lower than 4.5 Hits Allowed

Birdsong has had his ups and downs this year, with one of the worst downs being his last game. He gave up seven runs in just two innings in that outing. However, even with that being the case, he only allowed five hits in that span. His biggest issue has always been his walks and even in a bad outing, he’s been staying under this number.

Additionally, he gets the Tigers, who simply can’t hit at the moment. They’ve scored a total of six runs in the last three games. In that same span, they are averaging only 5.0 hits per game, and that’s for the entire game. Birdsong will only get a fraction of those and should stay under this projection.
