Underdog Fantasy MLB Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – August 3
Dansby Swanson – Higher than 0.5 Total Bases
Perhaps Dansby Swanson’s .224 batting average isn’t the most inspiring for this projection. However, he has been on a roll as of late. He has a four-game hitting streak with an extra-base hit in three of those four games. He also has a hit in 10 of his last 11 games. If that isn’t enough to bring you around to him, how about the fact that he’s 10-for-17 (.588) career off of Saturday starter Kyle Gibson? He should be able to find the outfield grass just once.
Aaron Judge – Higher than 1.5 Total Bases
I like Aaron Judge on this projection for a couple reasons. The first of which is that he’s Aaron Judge. He’s got 40 home runs on the year and three in the last four games. As a result, nabbing a pair of bases in any game is well within reach. The second reason is that he faces Jose Berrios on Saturday. He’s a career 12-for-32 (.375) against him and four of those twelve hits have left the park. That leaves him with a head-to-head .813 slugging percentage.
Willson Contreras – Lower than 1.5 Total Bases
Maybr it’s a bit too easy to fade a catcher at the plate, but Contreras has been in a bit of a slump and I don’t see it ending. He’s 0-for-9 in the month of August with four strikeouts. He has just one hit in his last three games and two hits in his last five. He’s also been brutal against Jameson Taillon, who starts for the Cubs on Saturday. He’s 3-for-18 (.167) career against him and has struck out nine times in that span. I expect the August hitless streak to continue for him this weekend.
