Underdog Fantasy MLB Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – July 20

Charlie Blackmon – Higher than 1.5 Total Bases

Charlie Blackmon has seen plenty of Giants’ starter Logan Webb over his career, and he doesn’t hate it. They’ve faced off 36 times with Blackmon going 13-for-33 (.394) all-time. That’s already enough for me to have faith that he might grab a couple of hits on Saturday, but it helps this projection even more when you factor in the extra-base hits. In that span, five of the 13 hits have been for extra bases.

Blackmon has also been hitting pretty solid as of late. He’s beat this projection in three of his last four games. With a good pitching matchup on his side, I think he keeps things rolling.

Anthony Santander – Higher than 1.5 Total Bases

Another guy with a great pitching matchup today is Anthony Santander. The switch hitting outfielder runs into Max Scherzer again. He’s 4-for-10 off of him all-time with three of those four hits going for extra bases. We can add to our confidence by noting that Scherzer hasn’t exact been his old self this year.

Also, Santander came out of the All-Star Break firing on all cylinders. He ripped a pair of home runs on Friday night and should be able to keep things going this weekend.

Steven Kwan – Higher than 1.5 Total Bases

Kwan also came out of the break hot, albeit not as hot as Santander. He had a couple of hits on Friday night and looks to keep things rolling against the Padres and Dylan Cease. Cease has not been grea this year, with an ERA flirting with the 4.00 mark and eight losses. He also hasn’t been great aginst Kwan historically, who is 7-for-19 (.368) with a pair of those hits going for more than one base.
