Underdog Fantasy MLB Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – July 24
Teoscar Hernández – Higher than 1.5 Total Bases
The name of the game today is guys with good pitching matchups and big bats.
We’ll start with the Home Run Derby champion. Teoscar Hernandez has faced Giants’ lefty Robbie Ray just seven times in his career, but has had wild success in that small sample. He has three hits and a walk for a .500 average. More imporantly he has a pair of dingers in that span, making him a threat to meet this projection in just one swing at any time.
Alex Bregman – Higher than 1.5 Total Bases
Another batter with a big bat, albeit quite a bit less big than our other two plays, is Bregman. He’s picked his average up quite a bit this month and in June – going up 47 points since June 1st. With the bat heating up, you like to see he has a familiar foe on the bump and one he has hit hard. Bregman faced JP Sears, who he is 5-for-14 off of in his career. Like Hernandez, the most reassuring part of that is that three of those are extra base hits, with two being home runs.
Aaron Judge – Higher than 1.5 Total Bases
Last and certainly not least is Aaron Judge, who is the biggest bopper of them all. On top of playing at home, which is a nice advantage, he’ll face Sean Manaea. He’s 6-for-13 (.462) off of him in his career. Much like my other two plays this week, he also has a pair of home runs against him in his career. He should be able to find something to lift here against the lefty and bring this one home for us.
