University Park Mall Shooting: Police At Mishawaka Shopping Centre Amid Active Shooter Reports

Several locals in Mishawaka took to social media on Saturday to report that there was an active shooter at the University Park Mall. Local media outlet WSBT 22 cited the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office to confirm the shooting at the shopping centre. Photos from the scene show deputies, Mishawaka Fire and Police Department, and the South Bend Police Department currently outside the mall.
Witnesses said that a male with dreadlocks opened fire at the mall.
“Shooting at the University Park Mall! Please anyone in the area, stay away…” one person said on Facebook. “Active shooter University Park Mall. Black male with dreadlocks wearing all black. Is the shooter,” another one added.
“There is an active shooting situation in Mishawaka, Indiana at university park mall. Thankfully @Sephora employees let my sister out the back door. Wasnt there so dont know details just that shots were fired.”
