Lauren Daigle

Two-time Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Lauren Daigle will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at Blue Arena, 5290 Arena Circle.

Victory Boyd will be special guest.

Blues & Cruise Car Show

The Road Knights Car Club and the Loveland Downtown District will host the Blues & Cruise Car Show at 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, May 18, in downtown Loveland.

Blues music will be live throughout the day in the Foundry Plaza and on Fifth Street. The lineup includes 50 Shades of Blue at noon-1:15 p.m. and David Boyd Trio at 1:45-3 p.m. on the Fifth Street stage; and Mr. Smyth at noon-1:45 p.m. and Bluz Kadillak at 2:15-4 p.m. on the Foundry stage.

Cars will be located on Third, Fourth and Fifth streets. Beer and food trucks will be available on Third Street at Foundry Plaza.

This event is free and open to the public.

Colorado Spartans

The Colorado Spartans will hold a First Responders & Military Appreciation Night and Half-Time Scrimmage at 6 p.m. Friday, May 17, at Blue Arena, 5290 Arena Circle.

This event will honor and support the men and women who serve as first responders or military in ​t​he Northern Colorado community, ​a​nd will raise funds for the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Lodge No. 3 Benevolent Fund.

The arena football game will feature the Colorado Spartans facing off against the Oklahoma Flying Aces.

Highlighting the evening will be a halftime scrimmage featuring local first responders who will take to the arena floor to showcase their skills and athleticism.

In addition to the on-field action, there will be activities and tributes throughout the game, recognizing the contributions of first responders.

Outside, fans can take pictures with emergency vehicles in a “Touch-the-Truck” display and thank first responders​ for their commitment.​Inside, donation stations and “Pass the Boot” at halftime will allow fans to donate to the FOP Lodge No. 3 Benevolent Fund, which provides support and assistance to first responders across Northern Colorado and their families during times of need.

Home Show

The 2024 NoCo Home Builders Association Home and Remodeling Show will take place at noon-8 p.m. Friday, May 17, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, May 18, and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at the First National Bank Exhibition Hall at The Ranch, 5280 Arena Circle.

Find professional designers, remodelers and specialty contractors who can help with home projects, or get ideas for do-it-yourself projects.

Kids to Parks Day

Kids to Park Day and a Kite Festival will be held at 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at North Lake Park, 2750 N. Taft Ave.

With a theme of “Welcome to the Jungle Gym,” the event will offer mobile recreation trailer games, arts and crafts, an Animal Safari, a Kool-Aid drink station and photo booth, rides on the Buckhorn Northern Railroad train and a Wild Family Picnic – bring your own picnic lunch.

Kids Fishing Derby

The Loveland Kids Fishing Derby will be held at 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at the North Lake Park Duck Pond, 2750 N. Taft Ave.

The derby is free and open to all youngsters up to age 14.

To qualify for prizes, register in the morning before starting to fish at Loveland Fishing Club stations set up in the Loveland High School parking lot just east of the pond and at the covered shelter on the west.

The fishing club will loan fishing worms and tackle to kids who need it, measure the fish and handle raffle drawings. Prizes will be awarded in drawings throughout the competition, and for biggest and smallest trout caught.

There is a limit of two trout per participant.

At a Colorado Youth Outdoors booth on the east side of the pond, volunteers will show participants how to clean their fish and give it back to them to eat.

Loveland Kiwanis Clubs will provide food and drinks at “family-friendly” prices.

The pond will be open to fishing for all after the event.

The event is free.

APIDA Celebration

An Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) Heritage Month celebration will be held at noon-4 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at the Loveland Public Library, 300 N. Adams Ave.

Heart & Sol will host the event outside the library, with guest speakers, cultural performances from around the world, martial arts demonstrations and food trucks.

It is an all-ages event.

The library also will hold an APIDA Heritage Month Family Storytime at 11-11:30 a.m. with books, rhymes, and songs. For all ages and their grown-ups.

‘Right to Know’ Talk

The South Larimer Discussion Group of the League of Women Voters of Larimer County will present “Protecting Our Right to Know: Perspectives from Local Journalists” at 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, online.

Guests will be John Vahlenkamp, senior editor of the Loveland Reporter-Herald, and Becky Justice-Hemmann, publisher of the Berthoud Weekly Surveyor.

The group will discuss the current state and future of local news and the newspapers’ policies on misinformation and disinformation. There will be time for audience questions.

CreatorSpace Bash

Loveland CreatorSpace will hold a 10th anniversary bash at 1-5 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at the facility at 320 N. Railroad Ave.

Public Star Night

Public Star Night will take place at 7 p.m. Friday, May 17, at the Little Thompson Observatory, 850 Spartan Ave.

Vicky Hamilton, an Institute Scientist at Southwest Research Institute in Boulder, will speak about “NASA’s OSIRIS-REx Mission: Early Results from Asteroid Sample Analysis.”

After the talk​, the observatory will be open to the public for an evening of star gazing, with both the 18- and 24-inch telescopes available for viewing from 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., weather permitting.

No reservations are needed and everyone is welcome.

Tomato Plant Sale

First United Methodist Church of Berthoud will hold its annual tomato plant sale at 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at the parking lot of the church at 820 Ninth St.

The sale will feature 24 varieties of locally grown, chemical-free tomato plants and basil.

There will be no pre-orders. All plants are $4.

‘Beauty and the Beast’

Healing Warriors 5K

The Healing Warriors Program second annual 5K Fun Run will take place at 8:30 a.m.-noon Sunday, May 19, at Spring Canyon Park, 3156 S. Overland Trail. Check-in begins at 9 a.m. and the race starts at 10 a.m.

The Gardens on Spring Creek Plant Sale will take place at 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, May 18-19, at the gardens at 2145 Centre Ave., Fort Collins

The plant sale will have more 35,000 locally grown native and regionally appropriate annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables and hanging baskets.

The second annual Northern Colorado Vinyl Record Show presented by the Vinyl Heard will take place at ​1​1 a.m..-5 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at Sweetwater Brewery, 1020 E. Lincoln Ave.

Organized by The Vinyl Heard, the show aims to unite the community in a shared appreciation for the timeless charm and rich history of vinyl records.

A marketplace will include 20 local vendors showcasing an array of vinyl records spanning genres from classic rock and jazz to hip-hop and electronic.

Early bird tickets allowing entry at 10 a.m. are available for $10. General admission at 11 a.m. is free.

Parkinson’s Talk

The Parkinson Association of the Rockies will offer a program on “Loneliness in People with Parkinson’s Disease: A Proposal for Social Prescription” at 10 a.m.-noon, Saturday, May 18, at First Presbyterian Church, 531 S. College Ave.

Laura Swink will present the program on loneliness, a growing problem for society as a whole, and who it affects people with Parkinson’s disease at an even greater rate than the general population. This talk will explore the problem of loneliness generally, and then specifically in Parkinson’s disease patients, outlining relationships between loneliness, mobility and quality of life.

Open House

The Windsor Historic Preservation Commission will hold an open house at 4:30-7 p.m. Friday, May 17, at the Windsor Art & Heritage Center, 116 Fifth St.

Attendees can hear about progress on the implementation of the Historic Preservation Master Plan and the designation of four historic properties.

A landmark designation is planned at 5:15 p.m. with a walking tour at 6-7 p.m.

People can learn about wildlife from a volunteer at Trailhead Trunks set up at noon-3 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at Eastman Park, 7025 Eastman Park Drive.

Volunteers will tell about wildlife that can be spotted along the Poudre River and near Eastman Park Pond.
