US Education Secretary to travel to Maui to ‘uplift’ academic recovery
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona is schedule to travel to Maui on Friday to participate in various roundtable discussions across the island.
He’ll first be meeting with community and education leaders, then in a separate meeting he will speak with state Department of Education community liaisons.
The roundtables are focused on wildfire response efforts and the academic recovery of K-12 schools from the Aug. 8 wildfires.
Secretary Cardona is expected to tour King Kamehameha III Elementary, a wildfire recovery site, and Lahainaluna High School.
