USA vs. Brazil live updates, score: Summer Olympics men’s basketball heads to the quarterfinals

Team USA is making its move toward the medal stand, with just two more games to win before a potential gold medal final on Saturday at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics. Winning their three pool play games by an average of more than 21 points per game, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry and company haven’t been seriously challenged, but they aren’t the only unbeaten team heading into the knockout stage — Germany also got out of group play unscathed, and could pose a challenge to the U.S. at the next stage of the tournament.

For now, though, Team USA turns its attention to Brazil, which got out of group play with a win over Japan and losses to Germany and France. Bruno Caboclo, who spent several seasons in the G-League, led Brazil with 33 points in their win over Japan to get them into the quarters, while wing Gui Santos and big Mãozinha Pereira have also spent time in the G-League.

Team USA and Brazil play in the last of the Olympic men’s basketball semifinals, and we already know the three other nations that will play for medals in Paris. France, Serbia and Germany all won their games, with France upsetting Canada, Serbia battling back from a 24-point deficit to beat Australia and Germany stunning Giannis Antetokounmpo and Greece.

With a win vs. Brazil, Team USA would take on Nikola Jokic and Serbia — who the U.S. beat in their opening game in pool play.
