Users Of iPhone 16 And Older Models Are Experiencing Major Battery Drain Issues After Updating To iOS 18, Apple Has Yet to Acknowledge The Problem
It has been almost a month since the iPhone 16 lineup made it to the shelves, and the devices have been received pretty well, other than some aspects such as the design of the ‘Pro’ models and the practicality of the Camera Control button. Apple also released iOS 18 to the general public soon after the devices were announced, but some users of the iPhone 16 are complaining of excessive battery drain.
iPhone 16 and older models are experiencing battery drain issues after updating to iOS 18
iOS 18 brought its fair share of issues to the iPhone, and Apple has fixed most of them with its latest iOS 18.0.1 update, but some problems still prevail on the iPhone 16 models, including significant battery drain issues. iPhone 16 users have shared their complaints on Reddit and Apple Support Communities, suggesting that the battery is draining more than it should. Reddit user Ok-Interest-6561 states:
I upgraded from my iPhone 12 and got new 16 Pro. I upgraded mostly because of battery and speaker issues but I observed that even though 16 has “better battery” and more battery life, it drains around 10-15% overnight doing nothing just laying on my bedside table.
Another user on Reddit conducted his own experiment comparing the battery life of the iPhone 16 Pro to that of the iPhone 14 Pro. He states that the iPhone 16 Pro dropped to 58 percent battery within 36 hours, while the older iPhone 14 Pro rested at 85 percent. This clearly indicates that iPhone 16 users are experiencing major battery setbacks on iOS 18, and Apple should fix the issue in the next release.
There are various causes of iPhone battery drain issues, and we are not certain that they stem from iOS 18. Unsupported or faulty apps can also cause the iPhone 16’s battery to drain much faster. We have previously covered how the Facebook app was causing battery drainage on previous iPhone models, and it could be the same reason again.
At this point, many developers still have not updated their apps with support for iOS 18, and it could also be the reason for the battery drain on iPhone 16 models. The issue seems to be affecting some older iPhone models as well, and the cause could be the same. Apple has not responded at this stage, but the company will potentially fix the bug that us causing the issue to persist on iPhone 16 and older models. We will keep you posted as soon as a fix arrives, but before that, are you experiencing battery drain issues on your new iPhone 16?
