UTA Signs Cedric The Entertainer & His A Bird And A Bear Entertainment Banner

EXCLUSIVE: UTA has signed comedic multi-hyphenate Cedric The Entertainer and his production company A Bird And A Bear Entertainment for representation in all areas.

A comedian, actor and executive producer, Cedric currently stars opposite Max Greenfield in the CBS sitcom The Neighborhood, which returned for its sixth season in February and has been picked up for a seventh. Created by Jim Reynolds, the show follows midwesterner Dave Johnson (Greenfield) as he relocates his white family to a predominantly African American neighborhood in Los Angeles. There, Dave’s excessive friendliness isn’t well-received by everyone, especially his new next-door neighbor, Calvin Butler (Cedric The Entertainer). Cedric won an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series for his work on the show last year, marking his sixth inclusion in the category.

CBS Studios doubled down on its commitment to The Neighborhood universe by giving a series order to Crutch, a Paramount+ spin-off centered on Tracy Morgan’s Floyd, the cousin of Cedric’s Calvin. Floyd is described as a “say it like it is” widowed father who is challenged when his two adult children and grandchildren need to move back home.

Currently, Cedric The Entertainer can be seen combining music and comedy opposite multiplatinum artist Toni Braxton with the sold-out residency, Love & Laughter, held at The Chelsea in The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, which will continue to add performances through this fall.

Other noteworthy TV credits for Cedric include The Last O.G., The Steve Harvey Show, Cedric the Entertainer Presents and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. Recently, he reprised his role as Uncle Bobby in Disney+’s The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder — a long-anticipated revival of the groundbreaking animated series The Proud Family, which won an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Animated Series in 2023.

Cedric’s film work spans from such comedies as the hit Barbershop franchise and The Original Kings of Comedy concert film, chronicling his record-breaking comedy tour with Steve Harvey, D.L Hughley and the late Bernie Mac, to dramas like Paul Schrader’s Oscar-nominated First Reformed, co-starring Ethan Hawke and Amanda Seyfried. Additionally, he’s lent his voice to such animated hits as Disney’s Madagascar and Planes franchises, Ice Age and Dr. Dolittle 2, among many other titles. He executive produced and hosted the 73rd annual Primetime Emmy Awards and received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2019.

Cedric co-owns A Bird and a Bear Entertainment with longtime manager and business partner Eric C. Rhone. To date, the company has produced The Neighborhood, Crutch, Kings of BBQ (tied to Cedric and Anthony Anderson’s lifestyle brand, AC Barbeque), Johnson (now streaming on Hulu), the Love & Laughter residency, Johnson Family Vacation, The Soul Man, The All Star Comedy Jam, Greatest #AtHome Videos, and more.

Last fall, Cedric released his debut novel, Flipping Boxcars, via Amistad Press/HarperCollins. Collaborating with Alan Eisenstock, his literary noir tale drew on stories from his close-knit family’s colorful history to serve up a fast-paced and diverting fictional crime caper.

Cedric is also known for his philanthropic efforts through The Kyles Family Foundation, which has raised funds for and donated to organizations and programs including the Boys & Girls Club of America, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, United Negro College Fund, Amazing Grace Conservatory, SSM Health’s Women’s Health Initiative and the 2016 opening of Rosetta Boyce Kyles Women’s Pavilion in honor of Cedric’s late mother.

Cedric The Entertainer continues to be represented by R&CPMK, manager Eric C. Rhone, and the legal team at Del Shaw Moonves.
