Valley Roofing & Exteriors celebrates 20 years in business

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) – Anson Martin founded Valley Roofing and Exteriors in 2004 as a one-man business, after working for several years in construction. Now 20 years later, the company maintains between 50 and 60 employees and serves customers from Rockingham to Albemarle County.

“I look at my journey through life as a walk into the horizon., And, you never get there, the horizon keeps moving ahead of you, but while you’re walking you hit all these milestones along the way and that’s kind of how I approach life, I want to enjoy the journey,” Martin said.value, how long they last and their performance is way better,” Martin said. “It’s fun seeing that go through the years, how things change, different products, and even the way of doing things, as well as different equipment to make the job easier and better,” Martin said.

One of the biggest challenges Martin said the company — like others in the roofing industry face — is staffing crews. Martin explained that because of the conditions, like being out in all kinds of weather, it can be tough. He added though, that it is rewarding to see the different pieces of the business come together from installation work to office staff.

More so, he said running a company is about rolling with the punches and celebrating people and achievements along the way.

Martin also thanked employees and customers, both past and present, for their part in making Valley Roofing & Exteriors what it is today.
