At this time of year, the local roads become filled with city-dwellers who want to refresh their understanding of what Autumn in New York really means: apple picking, pumpkin picking, leaf-peeping, visits to farmers markets, and seasonal celebrations of all kinds.
At the Lakeside Farmers Market in Greenwood Lake, visitors are presented with a different array of fruits and vegetables, prepared foods, and beverages, subject to Mother Nature’s schedule. But complementing those vendors is a different musical artist each week, like Will Hinck, who, with his acoustic guitar, performs acoustic versions of hits from the 60s through today. Last week, visitors were entertained with acoustic music from guitarist, Robby Gorny who likes to play good time country and rock music. ”When we established this market a few years ago,” said market manager, Karen Wintrow, “we wanted to provide a welcoming environment to our customers so that they would have the opportunity to relax and enjoy their visit with us, so the musical component has become an important ingredient.”
In addition to the offerings of vendors, the market coordinates special events, entertainment, demonstrations, and other activities along with a coordinated social media and print marketing campaign to draw customers to the market. With the unique location in Winstanley Park on Windermere Ave. (across from Chase Bank), Orange County’s newest farmers market has proven to be of great value to the vendors and non-profits participating in the Lakeside Farmers Market at Greenwood Lake .
