Vermont launches app using AI to help create resumes and apply for jobs

An application just launched to help Vermonters find and apply for jobs using artificial intelligence technology. Vermont Employment Pathfinder will help best match users with career opportunities by creating a resume, identifying applicable jobs and applying for those jobs.

Vermont Employment Pathfinder was created in 2022 in Brattleboro through a partnership between the Brattleboro Development Credit Corp. and technology company Skill Lab looking to increase the skills and wages of marginalized and underemployed workers.

At the launch event Monday, Aug. 26, afternoon at the Old North End Community Center in Burlington, VEP’s creators highlighted the importance of this application for new Americans, English-learners and those entering the work force for the first time.

How Vermont Employment Pathfinder works

The app will interview job seekers through a series of questions. It will ask for information about professional experience and education, what skills the user has, along with personal information like hobbies and volunteer work.

Based on the individual skill profile, the A.I. will recommend careers and identify career goals. It will highlight “relevant and sustainable careers,” and also recommend local education or training based on gaps in skill. The A.I. can translate information in 28 languages, making the program accessible for a wide range of individuals.

The application is free and available to job seekers across the state.
