An alert employee at Target in Gloucester Township thwarted three women from stealing a shopping cart full of merchandise on Monday afternoon, authorities said.

The women then fled in a silver Jeep with a temporary New Jersey license plate and spare front right tire, Gloucester Township police said.

The trio entered the store on Berlin Cross Keys Road and loaded the cart with clothing and other items, police said. One of the women — in a pink coat — then walked out of the Target and pulled the Jeep in front of the store.
