Virginia jobs dropped in August, survey shows

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. (WVVA) – Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin has announced the most recent employment numbers for Virginia. This announcement comes after a survey by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

According to the survey, Virginia non-farm reported payroll employment dropped by 5,800 in August.

While the numbers dropped in August, the over-the-year statistics show the growth of 61,600 jobs this year.

The survey uses payroll records of establishment employers and is designed to give a count of jobs under which the employer pays unemployment insurance.
