Virtual job fair coming to West Virginia
CHARLESTON, WVa. (WHSV) -WorkForce West Virginia is hosting its next Statewide Virtual Job Fair on Jan. 8, offering job seekers the opportunity to connect with employers from across the state without leaving home.
The event is designed to help individuals find job opportunities in a convenient and accessible format. Maureen Persons, Director of Employment said WorkForce West Virginia, explained that the virtual platform is easy to use, ensuring a smooth experience for both job seekers and employers.
“We’ve designed this platform to be accessible to everyone,” Persons said. “Employers are really engaging during the sessions, and participants can upload résumés and apply on the spot.”
Since launching the virtual job fairs in October 2022, WorkForce West Virginia has seen significant success. Thousands of job seekers and employers participate each month, and over 500 job openings were welcomed last month. The initiative has helped foster connections, leading to hires and providing people with opportunities they may not have considered before.
“We’re seeing people get hired during the fairs, and it’s exciting because they’re finding opportunities they didn’t even know existed,” said Persons.
The virtual format eliminates barriers such as transportation or childcare, allowing participants to explore job opportunities from the comfort of their own homes. Persons explained the Program prioritizes WV employers and job seekers.
“Our team is here to help participants navigate the platform,” Persons emphasized. “If you’re unsure, we have resources and staff to support you. You’re not alone in this process.”
Job seekers can register for the event at workforcewv.org. Both job seekers and employers must register in advance. While the event goes live on Jan. 8, the platform will remain open for job browsing and résumé uploads throughout the week.
