Volleyball Wraps Up Regular Season in Winning Fashion – University of North Florida Athletics

DELAND, Fla. – North Florida volleyball (13-18, 9-7 ASUN) took care of business at Stetson (5-22, 2-14 ASUN) in the regular season finale, 3-1, Saturday, Nov. 17, earning a 9-7 finish in league play. The victory gives the Ospreys an over .500 finish in conference play for the fifth-straight season.

UNF earns the seventh seed in the league tournament and will take on No. 2 Central Arkansas in the quarterfinals Thursday, Nov. 21 at 1 p.m. from Fort Myers. 

UNF earned a season sweep of Stetson in the win, bringing UNF to season sweeps of two games against Stetson, West Georgia and Queens. 

UNF 3, Stetson 1 (25-14, 25-21, 22-25, 25-15)

  • Set 1: Amy Burkhardt started off blazing hot, pushing UNF to a first set win with six kills on .333 … tied 7-7, UNF went on a 10-4 run to pull ahead large, cruising to a win.
  • Set 2: Burkhardt posted eight kills in the second session, staying dominant to overwhelm Stetson and push UNF to a 2-0 lead .. North Florida and Stetson played to six tie scores and one lead change in the second set.
  • Set 3: Stetson took a 6-5 and never let up on it … the Ospreys cut into the deficit to get within one, down 20-19, but Stetson rallied to stay on top.
  • Set 4: UNF jumped out to an 8-2 lead and held as much an 18-8 lead as the Ospreys cruised to a win against Stetson in the fourth … the Ospreys held Stetson to .000 hitting in the final frame.
