Vote for the Citizen Times, Times-News boys athlete of the week for Oct. 27 to Nov. 2

After a full slate of football and a week full of state championships, it’s time to look back and vote on the top performances from boys athletes in WNC.

Vote for the boys athlete who had the best performance last week. The poll closes on Thursday at noon.

Michael Haskin, Asheville High: Haskin won the boys 4A state championship, running a time of 15:21.71 to take first by a second and a half.

Avan Hinkle, Brevard: Hinkle finished the boys 2A state championship meet in 16:21.15, taking third place and leading the Blue Devils as they defended their team state title.

Jackson Cancel, Christ School: Cancel rushed for 328 yards and five touchdowns in a first round NCISAA playoff win over Charlotte Latin, 58-28. He averaged 16.4 yards on his 20 carries.

JaRon Ward, Hendersonville: Ward was 16-for-25 for 204 yards and four touchdowns, and rushed 7 times for 70 yards as Hendersonville beat Chase, 47-21.

Brandon Quinn, Mountain Heritage: Quinn carried the ball 17 times for 160 yards and four touchdowns in the Cougars’ 54-12 win over Mitchell.

Max Guest, Reynolds: Guest ran for 281 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries, including a 75-yard score. He also completed 3-of-7 passes for 26 yards as the Rockets came back to defeat Asheville High, 30-27.

Ayden Johnson, Smoky Mountain: Johnson set a school record on Tuesday with six rushing touchdowns in a 42-35 win over North Henderson. He carried the ball 23 times for 214 yards. On Friday, Johnson ran for three touchdowns in a 47-28 win vs. West Henderson.

Keagan Saft, West Henderson: Saft finished second in the boys 3A state championship, taking a time of 15:35.90.
