WaletHub’s methodology including analyzing indicators such as average salaries, employment growth, job opportunities and satisfaction, risk of jobs being lost to automation and unemployment rates.

”Pittsburgh stands out because of the number of available jobs and the quality of its companies. Pittsburgh has the most job opportunities per capita, along with the third-most full-time job opportunities per capita at companies rated 4.5+ stars on Glassdoor,” read a portion of WalletHub’s findings. “The high-quality nature of jobs in Pittsburgh is evident by the fact that residents have the ninth-highest level of job satisfaction in the nation. In addition, jobs in Pittsburgh give good benefits.”

Pittsburgh also received high marks for a high percentage of workers there having an employer-based retirement savings plan, avibrant nightlife and access to public transportation.

Wilmington’s job market strength ranked 28th, and Wilmington’s socio-economic rank was 81.

While ranking 36th in WalletHubs best cities for jobs report may seem low, Wilmington joins Pittsburgh as the only cities from Mid-Atlantic region to crack the top 100.

Philadelphia ranked 110th on WalletHub’s list, while New York City ranked 139th. Newark ranked 169th.
