WALMART Shoppers are pining for a pre-COVID policy to come back, however, the retailer is showing no signs of returning to its old ways.

Customers have demanded that the retailer bring back 24-hour Walmart locations.

“It’s time to bring back 24-hour Walmart so I can go shopping at 3 am in peace,” one shopper posted on Facebook

Others have joined in, commenting that they also miss the previous policy.

“Right! How long must we suffer? All night Walmart!!” one person wrote.

“Yes, it was handy,” another person added.

“Loved going before my 7 am shift,” a third person commented.

Walmart had changed its store hours in 2020, due to public safety.

During the pandemic, the retailer decided to limit their hours to 6 am to 11 pm local time.

While many of their loyal customers assumed this would be temporary, the retailer never went back to the 24-hour schedule.

They officially crushed shoppers’ hopes last year, when a user on X (formerly known on Twitter) asked if they planned to go back to their previous format.

The retailer commented back, revealing they plan to stick to the limited hours.

“We don’t have any plans on returning to 24 hours, but you can always shop online anytime,” a spokesperson responded to the customer.

Walmart revealed that labor shortages, supply maintenance, and lack of necessity to have the store stay open all night led to their decision, according to Best Stocks

CONSTANT RUMORS

Despite Walmart drawing the line on bringing 24-hour Walmart locations back, that has not stopped the constant rumors from appearing on social media

A rumor recently appeared claiming that Walmart would resume its round-the-clock schedule starting August 14.

Walmart stores closed in 2024

So far, Walmart has closed the following stores in 2024:

  • San Diego, California – February 9
  • El Cajon, California – February 9
  • Columbus, Ohio – February 16
  • West Covina, California – March 29
  • Towson, Maryland – April 5
  • Granite Bay, California – April 12
  • Milwaukee, Wisconsin – May 19
  • Fremont, California – May 24
  • Aurora, Colorado – June 7

“Walmart has announced that starting June 3rd all locations in the U.S. Will go back to 24hrs,” read a post shared on X.

Other posts went viral, getting reshared thousands of times across other platforms.

The retailer had to shut down the rumor, explaining it is not looking to change the current schedule.

“[There] are no current plans to return our stores to 24 hours of operations,” Walmart spokesperson Joe Pennington told Reuters in an email.

Pennington also clarified that the account was not affiliated with Walmart in any way.

Similar rumors shot up in 2022 when another social media user also claimed they would be starting back their old policy in August.

“Great news for late-night shoplifters. 24-hour Walmart starts back August 14, 2022,” read a post shared thousands of times on Facebook

This rumor was proven to be false by USA Today.

The U.S. Sun has reached out to Walmart for a comment.
