Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Finally Confirms Return of PVP With New Trailer – IGN

The heavily rumored PVP mode for upcoming Warhammer 40,000 game Space Marine 2 is finally confirmed alongside a new teaser trailer released during the Warhammer Skulls showcase.

Space Marine 2, in development at Saber Interactive and due out in September 2024, is a third-person action game that sees the Ultramarines chapter of Space Marines go up against the Tyranids and the Chaos Marines.

Space Marine 2’s PVP pits Space Marines against Chaos Marines in three 6V6 PVP modes: Annihilation, Seize Ground, and Capture & Control. Space Marine 2’s PVP is the follow-up to the well-liked PVP mode featured in the first Space Marine game, developed by Relic Entertainment and published by the now defunct THQ in 2011.

Meanwhile, Space Marine 2 has a brand-new three-player co-op mode called Operations that lets you join forces with up to two friends. Both the PVE and PVP modes let players choose between six available classes, including the Combat Shield-wielding Bulwark and the stealthy Sniper.

The PVE trailer, below, showcases Space Marine customization, which lets fans tinker with everything from their helm to their greaves. Expect a wide selection of colors, heraldry decals, pauldrons, and gauntlets.

Space Marine 2 has a season pass, which includes more cosmetics. New content like missions, enemies, and weapons will be available to all players through regular free updates. The more expensive editions of the game let owners play a full four days before the official release date.

In Space Marine 2 you play Lieutenant Titus of the Ultramarines and battle to fend off a Tyranid invasion, with Thousand Sons Chaos Marines thrown in for good measure. Saber revealed more Space Marine 2 gameplay in August, promising a gritty third-person action experience that lets players rip through oceans of Tyranids. It’s set to be another entry in the expansive Warhammer 40,000 universe that even took inspiration from Syama Pedersen’s Astartes fan film.
