ESCANABA — Just as the dust settled from Monster Truck Throwdown at the U.P. State Fairgrounds it was Escanaba Speedway’s turn to deliver for its fans.

In the sportsman micro sprints Griffin Iverson proved that all you have to do is lead one lap as Iverson got a nice run off on a restart following a caution and capitalized on it for back-to-back feature wins. Iverson started sixth on the grid but the late caution opened the door to win number two. “This one felt really good,” Iverson said. “I restarted on the outside and the track was good and we got it done.” Chase Richer came from eighth on the grid to finish second while Macy Degnan came in third. Fourth place went to Braxton Lundquist who also won his heat race and fifth place went to Kristy Karl. Ethan Juhola won the other heat race.

In the sport compacts Tombo Waselesky made it four for four as he picked up his fourth feature win of the season. “We have been on a good roll,” Waselesky said. “The track was kind of rough tonight, the crowd was awesome to see and I always do better starting in the back, it’s more of a challenge and I seem to get better every time.” Dominick Lantagne charged his way through the field for the second place finish and Andrew Vandresse came in third. Tanner Olson and Dylan Lanaville rounded out the top five. Garrett Greenfield won the heat race.

Kevin Lustilla found his way back to victory lane picking up the win in the exhibition vintage class. Derek LeBresch came in second, Abi Yell was credited with a third place finish and Ron Anderson and Chris Broeders completed the top five.

In the super modifieds Scott Degnan picked up the feature win. Jesse Denome came in second and won the heat race and third place went to Bradley Seppanen while Drake Degnan finished fourth and Abi Yelle finished fifth.

In the youth micro sprints Finn Bower came back from a week off and picked up right where he left off picking up the heat and feature sweep. Wyatt Ammel came in second while Carson Wagner and Lilah Wagner rounded out the four car field.

In the 600 sprints Chase Richer picked up the win, his second of the season. Ethan Manninen had a strong run finishing second, Logan Getzloff came in third and Paul Hosking and Brayden Lundquist rounded out the top five.

The sport mod feature went to Bradley Viau. Evin Gagne came in second and won his heat race, Doug Belongia Jr. came in third and Bradley Seppanen and Matt Maki IV rounded out the top five. Frank Gasperini and Lonnie Dalgord also had heat wins on the night.

The street stock had a wild finish as Jason Piron got the late pass to pick up the feature win to go along with a heat win. Eric Mathieson came in second, Cody Turner came in third and Jeremy Sebeck and Jason Peacock rounded out the top five. Qwentin Johnson also picked up a heat win.

The Escanaba Speedway returns to action at 6 p.m. Saturday for the Christian Groleau Memorial Night.
