Washougal students participate in Special Olympics Unified Sports All-Star Game

COLUMBUS Ohio (KPTV) – A pair of Washougal High School students represented the Seattle Sounders at the 2024 Special Olympics Unified Sports All-Star Game on Tuesday.

Boaz Brooks and Rilen Snethen were selected by the Sounders among players from around the state of Washington. The event took place at Historic Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio, as part of the MLS All-Star festivities.

The teams were composed of 52 Special Olympic athletes and Unified partners, representing 26 MLS clubs.

It has been a summer to remember for a pair of club volleyball teams in the City of Roses.

The Unified Sports program in the Washougal School District was founded in 2015, and includes both soccer and basketball.

According to the school district, the program brings together students with and without disabilities to shape a more inclusive athletic environment for all student athletes, and operates on core values of acceptance, community, and friendship.

Brooks and Snethen will also be recognized, with the rest of the Unified team members and Special Olympic athletes, at the MLS All-Star Game on Wednesday.
